Feather Effect A tutorial by Bonafide

This is a simple and easy to create effect.

-Open a new document. 500 x 500 (or whatever you perfer)
-Press D then X to reset your color panel.
-Press ctrl+backspace to fill the bg w/ black.
-Randomly, using brushes, partially cover the document. (Abstract brushes work best)
-Filter>Stylize>Wind
~Method: Wind
Direction: From the right
-Filter>Stylize>Wind, from the left
~Method: Wind
Direction: From the left
-Edit>Transform>Rotate 90 CW
-Filter>Stylize>Wind
~Method: Wind
Direction: From the right
-Filter>Stylize>Wind, from the left
~Method: Wind
Direction: From the left
-Edit>Transform>Rotate 90 CCW
-Filter>Distort>Wave
-Choose 'Randomize' untill you get smooth, large waves
-Press ctrl+j to duplicate the layer
-Set the duplicated layer's blending option to Lighten
-Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal
