In this tutorial you will learn how to make a gradually clear text with transforming effect, step by step
Before getting started, please have a look at the result to understand clearer about what we'll be creating
Step 1: Open a new document and use the Text tool to write your text on the stage
Step 2: Right click on the text and select Break Apart
Step 3: Right click on any part of the text and select Distributes to Layers to assign each character to a layer as shown below:
Step 4: To make the effect, we have to transform each character to a movie clip object. So click on one text layer and go to Modify>Convert to Symbol (F8) and select Movie clip type. Repeat this step with other layers (except Layer 1).
Step 5: Hold down Ctrl key and click on frames as the image below (for example: Letter F from 5 -> 10; Letter l from 10 -> 15...). You can set a wider distance for a smoother effect
Step 6: Press F6 to create keyframes on the selected frames
Step 7: if you want to check your process then go to Control>Test Movie (Ctrl-Enter). You'll see that our text are disappearing, from left to right.
Select frame 1 of each letter layer and press Delete (hold down Shift to do it faster)
Step 8: Select the first appearing frame of "F" letter (frame 5) and use the Free Transfrom tool to make it bigger. Open the Properties panel (Ctrl-F3) and set the Color box to Alpha -> 20%.
Step 9: Right click on any frame between frame 5 and 10 and select Create Motion Tween
Repeat step 8 and 9 on other letter layers until you get
You should have a quick test on your process now! The effect looks cool but the letters are disappeared when they are fully shown up. To fix this problem, we have to copy the last appearing frame of each text layer to the last frame of the clip (frame 55). For example, with letter F, copy frame 10 and paste it on frame 55 by right click on frame 10 of letter F, select Copy Frames and paste it on frame 55
Repeat this step with other letter layers.
Now press Ctrl-Enter to see the result. It's fun, right?
